SoftBank is ready to invest in OpenAI, and has completed an investment of around $41 billion, giving it a stake of around 11%. Not only that, now SoftBank is reportedly looking to increase its investment in the artificial intelligence company.
According to reports, SoftBank is aiming to invest up to an additional $30 billion in OpenAI, under a new capital injection. It is expected to value OpenAI at around $830 billion.
This investment is expected to allow SoftBank to continue to maintain a large stake in OpenAI. For OpenAI, the new capital injection is seen as necessary for operating costs and also for the purpose of training their AI models.
Previously, since Google focused on Gemini in 2025, OpenAI was seen facing challenges in the artificial intelligence arena, not to mention the various alternative offerings from other parties that are affecting OpenAI's market share.
