Fast and timely updates are among the main reasons why some users choose iPhones over Android devices. Yesterday, Apple released iOS 12.5.8 updates for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 despite both devices being over a decade old.
The iPhone 5s was launched in September 2013 while the iPhone 6 was launched in September 2014. This long-term software support is amazing considering that Android devices are only supported for up to 7 years. The last time both devices were updated was in January 2023
iOS 12.5.8 was released to update security certificates needed to use iMessage, FaceTime, and device activation. If you are one of the small group that still uses these two models, please update your device immediately.
