Grab has now begun a pilot test of food delivery using drones in Singapore, and will conduct this test for three months. For this purpose, Grab is working with ST Engineering Unmanned Air Systems.
Grab says that using drones, they can easily deliver to some locations that are a little difficult or take a long time using land. This also makes the delivery process more efficient and faster than using land.
Grab is testing this service in the Tanjong Rhu neighborhood, where the residential area is separated by the Kallang River, and requires a long journey by land even though the food shop is just across the river.
Through this pilot test, Grab delivery people will bring food to the destination operating the drone, and then will make the delivery via a flight operated by ST Engineering. Next, at the destination location, Grab employees will receive the drone, and Grab food delivery people will make the final delivery to the destination.
