Maybank has now announced a five-year plan for the banking giant, including a focus on the digital arena and artificial intelligence integration. Under the plan, Maybank also stated that it will replace the MAE application with a new banking application.
For now, the timeline for the introduction of the new application has not been disclosed. More information regarding it is expected to be shared later this year.
Maybank's new application is expected to cover the Southeast Asia region and not specifically for the Malaysian market and other countries separately as is currently the case. The new application is expected to be able to operate cross-market, thus enabling more comprehensive and better integration between markets such as Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Maybank may introduce this new application starting from Indonesia.

Maybank previously introduced MAE in 2019, and they celebrated their 5th anniversary last year. MAE replaces the previous Maybank application known as Maybank2U MY which was discontinued in 2024.
