Two weeks ago, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) blocked access to the use of the artificial intelligence application Grok through the social media platform X because it was found to have allowed anyone to generate obscene images of anyone on the platform.
Recently, the MCMC has issued a new statement saying that access to Grok has been restored after the social media platform implemented additional security measures that no longer allow users of the platform to generate such images.
This decision was made after a meeting attended by the Ministry of Communications, MCMC and the social media platform X regarding the application. This meeting was held to show what preventive and monitoring measures have been taken to ensure that Grok can no longer be used to generate such images.
The access restrictions on Grok will be lifted starting today, but the MCMC also said that it will always be monitored to ensure that it is no longer used to generate obscene images in the future, where the restrictions will be reinstated.
