Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil is now targeting full cooperation from all social media platforms in restricting access for users aged 16 and below. With this move, only users aged 16 and above are allowed to use social media in Malaysia.
For your information, at present, this matter is still in the discussion phase, and there is no definite date for its enforcement. Previously, several countries have begun enforcing the 16-year age limit for social media use, after taking into account the well-being and mental health of children and minors.
This partnership comes in parallel with the statement that MCMC may sue X in the near future, due to its failure to ensure the safety of content sharing on the platform.
