Image blur is a long-standing issue in video games because the panel's refresh rate is not in line with the game's frame rate. It is solved with VRR technology, but this is still not enough to combat image blur. At CES 2026, NVIDIA announced its new G-SYNC Pulsar technology that promises sharper images.
G-SYNC Pulsar provides a smoother gaming experience with the panel's backlight now flashing like a strobe light to prevent the displayed image from appearing blurry. According to NVIDIA, even though the panel's backlight flashes like a pulse, the human eye sees it as clearer as a 1000Hz panel.
Simultaneously with the introduction of G-SYNC Pulsar, G-SYNC Ambient Adaptive Technology was also announced. G-SYNC Ambient Adaptive Technology automatically changes the screen brightness and color temperature displayed based on the room environment using a built-in light sensor. The problem of eye strain due to too much light at night is solved with G-SYNC Ambient Adaptive Technology.
Both new features are developed by NVIDIA through MediaTek. Four new monitors from Acer, AOC, ASUS and MSI supporting both G-SYNC Pulsar and G-SYNC Ambient Adaptive Technology have already gone on sale in several markets since yesterday.
