After the Ministry of Transport digitized the verification and renewal of Malaysian driving licenses, the issuance of physical licenses was limited to those who needed them to register for an international driving license and also those who will be driving abroad.
Recently, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has confirmed that starting January 23, 2026, those who need or want to hold a physical driving license can go to the license registration and renewal counters at UTC or JPJ Centers to purchase the physical license without having to provide proof that they will be driving abroad.
According to several reports, to obtain this physical license, Malaysians will have to pay RM20 for it, while foreigners who want the license will have to pay RM100 for it.
The price for this physical license is the same for all holders of a competent Malaysian driving license, regardless of whether it is for a motorcycle, car, or other vehicle license. In the meantime, purchasing this physical license does not affect the ability of citizens to renew their license through the MyJPJ application.
Senior citizens aged 60 and above, Class A1 and A license holders, and registered disabled people (OKU) can continue to receive the card without any fee.
