After AI-based traffic lights, Putrajaya Corporation is now taking a step forward by introducing a pilot project for smart pedestrian crossings. This initiative was developed specifically to increase traffic safety awareness, especially among school students who often use the crossings.
This AI system is not just monitoring, but it is also capable of detecting traffic violations such as pedestrians crossing at red lights or outside the crossing, as well as vehicles violating traffic lights. Every violation detected will be given immediate feedback via audio and visual, thus serving as a reminder for users to be more vigilant when on the road.
With this technology, Putrajaya is seen not only educating the public about the importance of obeying road rules, but also fostering a community that is more concerned about mutual safety. This step also supports efforts to make Putrajaya a safer city for all levels of society.
