Starlink is a satellite-based telecommunications service, which is also offered in Malaysia. Through it, it uses satellite radiation to connect users to the internet, thus allowing users in rural areas to also have easy access to the internet.
To make the service successful, Starlink uses around 4,400 satellites that are currently orbiting in space. Most recently, as a safety measure and to reduce collisions between satellites, Starlink announced that they will reduce the height of their satellites orbiting the Earth.
The satellites are currently orbiting at an altitude of 550 kilometers, and they will later be lowered to an altitude of 480 kilometers. This step will also indirectly make Starlink's orbit more compressed, as well as further increasing safety.
Starlink is expected to implement this in stages throughout 2026.
