Johor Darul Takzim is one of the states that is being developed to house many large-scale data centers for various uses, including artificial intelligence. Recently, it was reported that Telekom Malaysia, through their collaboration with data center company Nxera, has received good news about this development.
It was reported that TM-Nxera has succeeded in securing a 280MW power supply from Tenaga Nasional for the first phase of their data center project, which will begin operations as early as this year.
This data center is built on a 168,000 square meter plot of land and is expected to cost RM1 billion. The data center's internet network connection will be powered by two telecommunications companies, namely Telekom Malaysia and SingTel from Singapore.
According to Mahathir Said, CEO of TM-Nxera, the development of this data centre is not only a collaboration to develop a data centre, but also a catalyst to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence, cloud and various latest technologies by various different industry segments.
