Tesla AI5 Automotive AI Chip Design Completed, Dojo 3 Project Revived

Tesla recently confirmed that the Tesla AI5 automotive AI processing chip design is ready for production, and will be manufactured by semiconductor chip manufacturers TSMC and Samsung and will be used in Tesla cars in the near future.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that each Tesla AI5 processing chip comes with the processing power of an NVIDIA Hopper chip, and the combination of these two processing chips gives it the same capabilities as an NVIDIA Blackwell chip.

With the completion of the Tesla AI5 chip design, Tesla seems to be turning their attention to the design and production of their upcoming supercomputer chip, Dojo 3, which was previously stopped first to focus on the automotive processing chip.

It is reported that the Dojo 3 chip wafer will be manufactured by Samsung using a 2nm process at their factory in Texas, while the chip packaging will be done by Intel using EMIB technology that will combine these processing chips using a “silicon bridge” to facilitate the combination process.

Meanwhile, he also said that Tesla will produce new AI processing chips every 9 months, much faster than what other AI chip manufacturing companies such as NVIDIA and AMD are currently doing, which typically take 12 months to introduce new processing chip designs.
