ByteDance in Talks to Sell Mobile Legends Company for Over $6 Billion

ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, is reportedly in talks to sell the studio behind the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang for a value of between $6 and $7 billion. ByteDance is said to be in talks to Savvy Games Group.

ByteDance previously acquired Moonton in 2021, hoping to focus more on the video game arena. However, that did not work out, and in recent years, they have been looking for a buyer for Moonton.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is Moonton's main game, and has over 110 million active players each month. The majority of its players are from the Southeast Asian region.

Savvvy Games Group is an entity under the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. It has made a number of acquisitions involving video games and esports before, and the Moonton acquisition is expected to further complement their portfolio.

If all goes well, both parties are expected to announce the transfer and sale by the first quarter of 2026.
