Bytedance launched their latest generative artificial intelligence (AIO) model Seedance 2.0 which is capable of producing more realistic videos than its previous version. In China, Seedance 2.0 can be accessed through the Doubao and Dreamina applications. Although it is a multi-modal AI, for security reasons, uploading individual photos is not allowed for security reasons to prevent fake videos from being generated.
Doubao and Dreamina users can however upload their own faces to generate videos of themselves. This can only be done after verifying their identity using audio and video recordings first.
The improvement in Seedance 2.0's capabilities compared to 1.0 is that it is more consistent, understands the laws of physics and direction to create realistic-looking videos. It can also generate clips of up to 20 seconds compared to only 8 seconds in Seedance 1.0.
Videos of Tom Cruise fighting Brad Pitt and Optimus Prime fighting Godzilla have gone viral on social media. A day after its launch, Bytedance received criticism from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) for causing copyright infringement.
