The feature update with more intelligent features planned for Q1 2026 has reportedly been delayed again according to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg. In internal tests that are being conducted, the new Siri is slow and does not offer accurate information. Therefore, it does not pass the standards set by Apple.
Siri will still be updated via iOS 26.4 soon but with only partial functionality enabled. Users may be given early access to all the new Siri features but they should be aware that it is not the final product. Full access to the truly improved Siri will only be given via iOS 26.5. later.
Through the improved Siri, it can retrieve information from various applications on the device. For example, users can give the command “what is the name of the restaurant in Kampung Bharu that I searched for last week”. Siri will look at the search history before giving the correct answer.
Development of the new Siri and also Apple Intelligence has not been going smoothly since it was announced. The feature that was supposed to arrive with the iPhone 16 series was delayed, forcing Apple to use a base model based on Google Gemini because the base model developed in-house was not satisfactory. Smarter Siri features are already available on Pixel 10 devices in select markets through Google Personal Intelligence.
