Have you ever bought an 8K TV? If not, you may have contributed to LG’s decision to end production of its 8K OLED and 8K LCD panels this weekend. This means that LG will no longer be offering TVs with 8K resolution to the market immediately.
This makes LG another company after Sony and TCL that no longer offer 8K TVs to the market, leaving Samsung as the only company in the market with a small demand. The future of 8K TVs looks bleak with only Samsung offering new 8K models at CES 2026 last month. LG began offering 8K TVs in 2019.
The fact is that although 8K panels offer stunning visuals, they can only be enjoyed when the TV screen is 75″ and above. With no physical media offering in 8K resolution and streaming platforms only offering 4K content, there is no reason why you should own an 8K TV at home. It seems like the era of curved TVs and 3DTVs, the era of 8K TVs also seems to be coming to an end this year.
