In Micron's effort to become a well-known manufacturer of data center storage and memory components, they have announced mass production of their latest SSD storage, the Micron 9650, which supports the latest PCIe Gen6 data transmission technology.
This storage was introduced by Micron in the middle of last year, and has now finally entered the mass production phase by the company. The amount of capacity offered has not been announced yet, but in terms of data read and write speeds, the Micron 9650 is much faster than any consumer and data center SSD storage offering at the moment.
The Micron 9650 comes with a data read speed of 28GB/s, far exceeding the 14GB/s data read rate of PCIe Gen5 SSD storage. Data write speed is also seen as high as 14GB/s, higher when compared to the 10GB/s of PCIe Gen5 storage.
Not only that, the Micron 9650 storage also comes with more efficient power consumption, and in the data center and AI industries, that efficiency is just as important as the storage data read and write performance.
The storage also comes in E1.S and E3.S designs, with the E1.S SSD coming with the ability to be cooled using liquid cooling.
