Samsung Galaxy Fold Interface With Wider Screen Leaked

Samsung is reportedly going to launch the Galaxy Fold with a wider screen as a competitor to the yet-to-be-launched foldable iPhone. This wider screen ratio has already been pioneered by the Huawei Pura X first with the device only being launched in China.

Recently, an animation for the wider Galaxy Fold interface has been leaked via the Android Authority site. It confirms that the outer screen is wider and shorter while the folded screen when opened looks like a 4:3 screen ratio. The animation for this device was leaked via the One UI 9 code that Samsung is currently testing.

As a hardcore user of foldable screen devices, I can say that my main problem is that the outer screen is too narrow, making it difficult to type. The Find N and Pixel Fold series have successfully solved this issue. The wider screen ratio of Samsung devices only makes the top of the screen cut off, making the experience of browsing the web, social media applications and watching videos strange.

The Pura X which was first launched in China was less well received, probably for the same reason because of the impractical outer screen ratio. Who Samsung is targeting for this new device is a mystery as it seems more like it wants to launch a foldable screen device with a wide outer screen to the global market earlier than Apple regardless of existing user demand.
