SpaceX, the space exploration company under Elon Musk, has now applied to the US authorities to launch one million satellites into Earth orbit. SpaceX is seen to want to develop an “orbital data center”, and sees it as one of the cost-effective steps to develop data centers for the operation of artificial intelligence demands that are increasing day by day.
The new system is expected to be able to accommodate billions of users worldwide. It is also said to be powered by solar energy in operation.
However, this has also received opposition from a number of parties, including because it will show the slowing down of objects in space that will interfere with space research.
At present, it is unknown whether the US authorities will give permission or not, and how other countries will react to it.
