The Terengganu state government recently inaugurated the 5G Smart Pole Structure Pilot Project at Pasar Kedai Payang which aims to be a test site for the start of the state's digitalization infrastructure development.
This pilot project is part of the Terengganu State Smart City Blueprint 2040 which shows the state government to develop sufficient 5G network infrastructure and also to develop a smart city by 2040.
This pilot project was started at Pasar Kedai Payang, and is a collaboration between the Terengganu state government together with Colla Connecting Edge Sdn Bhd. This 5G Smart Pole functions as a lamp post, 5G network transmitter, IoT sensor and also smart CCTV.
It also functions as an emergency call button location, electric vehicle charging station, and digital advertising display and official information broadcast from local authorities. This Smart Pole is expected to be installed in more locations around the state of Terengganu in the future.
