U Mobile, the local telecommunications company, today announced that its in-building 5G network connectivity technology, Ultra 5G, has been expanded to several transportation hubs across Malaysia.
These include Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1, Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Langkawi International Airport, Penang Sentral and Terminal Bersepadu Selatan where all customers of the company’s telecommunications network can take advantage of 5G network connectivity in all areas of these airports.
The presence of Ultra 5G in-building network technology not only benefits U Mobile’s visitors and customers, but also enables various industries such as logistics and freight forwarding to sort and release packages and deliver goods quickly and smoothly.
The use of this Ultra 5G network can also take advantage of Redcap (Reduced Capability) technology which allows the 5G network to be used to connect hardware such as CCTV cameras to the 5G network for smooth and uninterrupted transmission of video feeds to server machines.
The in-building 5G network capability was developed by U Mobile with infrastructure partner EDOTCO, ensuring that the 5G network can be accessed in every corner of these locations, without blind spots when compared to systems using hotspot network technology.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, U Mobile is also introducing a free eSIM card offer for tourists in Malaysia, where U Mobile is offering the eSIM for 24 hours with a usable data amount of 100GB.
For tourists from outside Malaysia landing at the airports listed above, they only need to look for the QR code to register an account with U Mobile located at the departure and arrival halls, and they can then continue to use the 100GB data for the next 24 hours.
