WhatsApp Now Makes It Easier for New Members to Access Group Chat History

WhatsApp has introduced a ‘Group Message History’ feature to make the group chat experience more intuitive. When someone is added to a group, admins or existing members can choose to send them the latest messages (between 25 and 100 messages maximum). This way, new members can get the context of the conversation without having to scroll too far and instead only read the most relevant messages.

Admins have full control over this setting and can turn it off if they want. Whenever a history message is sent, all group members will receive a clear notification complete with the time and sender information. This message history will also be displayed in a different view so that it is easy to distinguish from regular messages. Like other messages, Group Message History is also protected with end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy. WhatsApp is rolling out this feature in stages.
