Xiaomi representatives at MWC told us that although it is just a concept, the Xiaomi Modular Camera System is ready to offer it in the near future.
A year has passed and now reports have emerged in China that the full production of the Xiaomi Modular Camera System has begun. When this interesting accessory will be officially launched is still a mystery. The MWC Barcelona 2026 stage will be used by them to launch the Xiaomi 17 series globally. It is likely that the announcement of the sale of the Xiaomi Modular Camera System will be made at the same time.
The Xiaomi Modular Camera System is equipped with an M4/3 Light Fusion X sensor and a lens developed by Xiaomi itself without the help of Leica. On the prototype phone there is a Xiaomi LaserLink Technology connection pin with the entire system connected to the back of the phone using magnets. Image data from the camera module is then sent to the device before being processed by the Xiaomi AISP system in the camera.
