Google Introduces Verification System for Financial Advertisers in Malaysia

Advertisers of financial products and services in Malaysia will be required to go through a verification process before being allowed to advertise on Google. This was announced on Google’s official blog and will come into effect on 14 April 2026.

In this verification process, advertisers will need to prove that they have been authorised by Malaysian authorities such as Bank Negara Malaysia, Securities Commission Malaysia and Labuan Financial Services Authority.

In addition, they are also required to complete Google’s advertiser verification programme as an additional requirement before being allowed to advertise. Applications can be made through Google’s compliance partners starting 10 March 2026.

Only advertisers who successfully complete the verification process will be allowed to advertise financial ads, while those who fail before the enforcement date will no longer have permission to do so.

This initiative is seen as bringing great benefits as it closes a loophole often used by fraudsters. In fact, this measure has already been implemented in several other countries such as the UK, Singapore and Australia, thus proving its effectiveness in strengthening digital security.
