If you are familiar with Grab Group Order, you can now use Grab Group Ride in the same way. It is a ride-sharing feature where the host needs to create a Group Ride first before other members can join.
The feature can be accessed via the Car → Transport → Group Ride section of the Grab app. The host only needs to set the pick-up and drop-off locations and select a payment method. Currently, there are two method options available, either the host pays the entire fare or the fare is split equally between all passengers.
For the split equally option, all passengers must have a valid cashless payment method as the payment will be automatically deducted. After the host selects the payment method, the invitation link can be shared, and the number of passengers depends on the type of vehicle. Each member is free to set their own pick-up and drop-off locations while the host will arrange the route and complete the booking.
Keep in mind that only the host can cancel the trip. The host is also responsible for any additional charges such as tolls or waiting charges. If the member’s payment method fails, the host will be charged for that portion.
Additionally, the app will display a yellow warning in the Group Ride Summary so that all members are clear about their total fare. Throughout the journey, live updates are also available to all passengers to ensure everyone is kept informed.
