Google today shared that all 20 local public higher education institutions have activated Gemini for Education support, thus enabling all students and administrators to use it in various daily matters. This offer involves almost 600,000 students, as well as 75,000 academics at Malaysian universities.
Gemini for Education is activated under the Google Workspace for Education offer which is already offered to local students. Google also stated that more than 40,000 academics have also been offered Google AI Pro for Education access by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT). In addition, 128,000 students have also been provided with NotebookLM Enterprise access by the KPT.
These various developments and offers are seen in line with the government’s agenda in bringing Malaysia into an artificial intelligence-driven country by 2030.
