MCMC has issued a statement urging iPhone users in Malaysia to update their devices to the latest version following the discovery of the Darksword malware. The vulnerability was discovered by researchers at Lookout, iVerify and Google earlier this month along with the patched Coruna vulnerability.
iPhones in Malaysia need to be updated as Darksword has been found to be attacking users in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Ukraine. It is designed to steal data, including personal information and crypto wallets.
You need to update your iPhone if you are still using iOS versions 18.4 to 18.6.2. An estimated 220–270 million iPhones are still running this version of the operating system because they refuse to upgrade to iOS 26 which has been offered since last year.
