At MWC Barcelona, Motorola announced an official partnership with the Graphene Foundation to support the GrapheneOS operating system on its devices. GrapheneOS is an OS based on Android AOSP but with enhanced security. With privacy as a key feature, GrapheneOS is Android without built-in Google app support.
Motorola did not say when the first device with GrapheneOS will be offered and whether it will be a new device or an existing one with a modified operating system. In addition, some features of GrapheneOS will be introduced on Motorola devices in the future.
GrapheneOS was launched in 2019 with only a small number of devices using it so far, such as the OSOM OV1 and Nitrophone 2, which is a modified Pixel 6.
