Samsung introduces Digital Home Key in Samsung Wallet, allowing Galaxy users to unlock their home using their smartphone. Digital Home Key is built on Aliro, a CSA open standard for digital locks and smart door locks.
Smart home doors are registered using Digital Home Key in Samsung Wallet through Samsung SmartThings integration. Once registered, homeowners can open the door with NFC, direct control from within the app, or automatically when nearby using UWB technology.
Keys are securely stored in Samsung Wallet and are protected by Samsung Knox and pass the EAL6+ security level standard. To ensure security if the device is stolen, the digital door key must be authenticated via biometric scanning or entering a pin code first.
Supported smart door lock brands include Aqara, Nuki, Schlage, and Xthings, with more to be added in the future. A digital door lock support update will be provided this month.
