Over the past year or two, Yahoo has been gradually restructuring their business, in an effort to refocus on their core offerings. In parallel, they have also chosen to sell or close several products and services under them.
After selling TechCrunch last year, Yahoo is now also seen selling the leading technology news portal, Engadget, to new owners, Static Media. The sale price was not disclosed.
With this move, Engadget will shift to Static Media, which will focus more on editorial and developing the brand. Meanwhile, Yahoo can continue to focus on their core product and service offerings, and reduce focus on non-core products.
For now, Yahoo has not yet officially announced this, and is expected to do so in March 2026.
