Last year, several high-powered GPU owners reported that their 12V-2×6 power pin connections melted because the graphics card overheated. The graphics card had to be returned because it could not be repaired at home. For those worried that this incident could happen to them. Corsair has launched the ThermalProtect PCIe 5.1 600W 12V-2×6 power cable that cuts off power supply when the GPU overheats.
There is a temperature sensor on the head of this 12V-2×6 cable for PCIe 5.1 GPUs. The milk defense system will automatically shut down the GPU when extreme temperatures are detected. The sensor is placed 30mm from the power connection to prevent it from mistakenly detecting heat from a hot GPU and not the hot temperature on the pins. It works plug and play without any additional configuration required.
Another feature of this cable is that it is 650mm long in black and white color options. The connection part has two different color tones to make it easier for users to see that the power cable is properly installed. The cable is also flexible allowing for neat cable management. A Corsair ThermalProtect PCIe 5.1 600W 12V-2×6 cable sells for $24.99 (~RM 99).
