Yesterday, DJI teased the Osmo Pocket 4P, which will come with dual cameras. There is no date for its launch, but it is an early sign that the era of dual-camera gimbal cameras is about to begin. After the Osmo Pocket 4P was teased, the Japanese social media account of Insta360 uploaded a teaser image of a product that seems to be similar.
The teaser image intentionally blurs the dual-camera design that is currently in development. Only the front and side images can be seen in a different configuration from the Osmo Pocket 4P. The cameras are arranged side by side, while on the Osmo Pocket 4P they are arranged on top of each other. Because the image is blurred, no information about the sensors can be seen.
Compact gimbal cameras are now replacing action cameras as the camera of choice for content creators. They are small, easy to carry, and the gimbal system ensures stable video recording at all times without shaking.
Insta360 and DJI are two competitors in the same segment. Earlier this year, DJI sued Insta360 for allegedly stealing their technology after hiring former employees.
