Microsoft Lowers PC Game Pass Price – Now RM20 Per Month

If you've been reading thecekodok since the beginning of this year, the current market trend is to increase subscription prices like Netflix, YouTube and Adobe. It doesn't stop there, device prices are also rising like blood pressure because RAMageddon is driven by the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. So this morning we were surprised by the news that the PC Game Pass subscription price has now been lowered back to RM20 per month after it was raised to RM25 in October last year.

This price reduction was made by the new head of Microsoft Gaming Asha Sharma herself via her social media account. It is seen as a strategy to restore players' trust in the Xbox and PC platforms, which are seen to have surrendered to PlayStation.

Although the PC Games Pass price is now cheaper, it comes with the announcement that the latest game in the Call of Duty series will no longer be included on the first day of its launch. Instead, it will only enter the Game Pass catalog a year after launch.

From a mathematical point of view, you save RM60 a year but no new CoD can be accessed until a year after that. This is similar to Sony's strategy of not offering their own studio games through the PlayStation Game Catalog on the first day. It is only offered a year or two after sale.
