U Mobile is ready to be appointed to develop the second 5G network in Malaysia, and has started the process since last year. According to the schedule, U Mobile is targeted to achieve a coverage rate of 80% by July 2026. However, now earlier, U Mobile announced that they have now succeeded in covering 82.9% of populated areas in Malaysia.
This simultaneously positions U Mobile as one of the fastest 5G network developers in Malaysia, compared to DNB before. According to the data also shared, Putrajaya now has a coverage rate of 99.9% of populated areas, while the lowest is Sarawak with a coverage rate of 58.7%.
With this development, U Mobile is expected to move to the next phase, and will dispose of various agreements with DNB previously in stages. At the same time, U Mobile also confirmed that discussions are taking place with Telekom Malaysia in Unifi Mobile using their 5G network.
