American Airlines Also Using Starlink For In-Flight Internet Service

In a document filed with the SEC this week, SpaceX said Starlink has about 10 million customers worldwide and that it is its most profitable business. Today, American Airlines became another company to announce that they will use Starlink internet service on their aircraft.

Starting in Q1 2027, Starlink will begin to be installed on more than 500 of its aircraft such as the A321XLR and A321neo to offer fast internet. Internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps can be used by passengers for streaming, gaming, video calls and teleconferencing while the plane is in the air.

American Airline follows in the footsteps of SIA, Emirates, Qatar Airways, United Airlines, British Airways Aer Lingus, Iberia and Vueling which are also using Starlink. At the same time, Starlink competitor, Amazon Leo is also offering satellite internet service for Delta passenger aircraft starting in 2028.
