Apple Considers Producing Apple Silicon Chips Using Samsung and Intel Factories

Apple Silicon chips are currently manufactured by TSMC, which would have an impact on the supply chain if something were to happen to the Taiwanese company. Apple is believed to manufacture 60% of its chips through TSMC's factory in Taiwan, which is at risk from attacks from China. Bloomberg this morning reported that Apple is considering using Samsung and Intel's fabrication plants to produce Apple Silicon starting in 2027 or 2028.

Samsung, the world's second-largest chip manufacturer, already has a long-standing business relationship with Apple through the supply of screens, memory and storage for iPhones. Samsung also has a chip production plant in the United States, which also recently received a contract from Tesla.

Intel, although no longer as powerful as it once was, also has a fabrication plant in the United States and is now receiving investment from the American government to bring high-tech production capacity back into the country.

A decision has not yet been made because it is still in the early stages. TSMC has been Apple's choice since the beginning because the chip production rate by Samsung and Intel is lower than the technology used by TSMC.
