Audemars Piguet x Swatch Royal Pop was finally officially launched early this morning by answering the questions after several days of being discussed on social media. All speculations were completely wrong because Royal Pop is not a watch. Instead, it is a collection of pocket watches with a built-in leather strap.
Audemars Piguet x Swatch Royal PopEight designs are offered in various cheerful Swatch Pop colors but with the iconic AP Royal Oak design. Six models with a two-hand configuration (Lépine) and two models with a three-hand configuration (Savonnette).
The Royal Pop collection is inspired by the Swatch Pop that was released in the 90s with the watch body that can be easily removed to match a variety of different watch straps, only this time it is matched with the luxury brand Audemars Piguet.
The watch body is made of bioceramic material (ceramic mixed with recycled plastic) with sapphire crystals on the front and back panels. The window on the back reveals the SISTEM51 mechanical movement that needs to be manually wound to provide power. Each watch can operate for up to 90 hours before needing to be rewound.
The watch measures 40mm × 8.4mm with a 44.2mm × 53.2mm case and is water resistant to 2 bar (20m). The Audemars Piguet x Swatch Royal Pop will be available starting May 16 in Otto Rosso, Huit Blanc, Green Eight, Blaue Acht, Orenji Hachi and Ocho Negro for the two-hand version, while the three-hand version will be available in Lan Ba, , Otg Roz.
