Instagram is testing a new feature that will allow anyone who regularly uses artificial intelligence (AI) to mark their account as an ‘AI Creator’. This label will appear on user profiles and shared content with the aim of providing transparency to followers about how the content was created.
The feature is built on the existing AI information label system, which is a label that can be added when uploading AI-based content. In addition, this label is optional, meaning that account owners themselves must choose to activate it. If activated, it will be displayed consistently on their profiles and content. However, Instagram also stressed that the use of this label does not affect the way content is shared on the platform.
For now, this feature is only offered to a select number of users as an initial test. In the coming weeks, this feature will be expanded to more users. This step is seen as an effort to increase user trust in content on social media, which is increasingly becoming a popular platform.
