MG Expands EV Ownership Support Across Malaysia

Since the EV industry has been growing rapidly in Malaysia, more and more electric cars have found a place in the hearts of consumers. MG Malaysia, which recently celebrated its 2nd anniversary in Malaysia, shared more about their plans for the local market. Uniquely, they do not only offer electric cars, but also offer petrol cars.

To date, MG offers 2 petrol cars and 3 electric cars for the Malaysian market. Demand for their cars is also quite rapid, with the first quarter of 2026 performance increasing by 57% compared to the fourth quarter of 2025. In fact, it is driven by the local people's demand for cars that use sustainable energy.

Earlier this year, the MG Cyberster received the Performance Car of the Year award from MARii, and their local electric car assembly plant with EP Manufacturing Berhad in Melaka has already started operations and produced the MGS5 CKD electric car. Thanks to the local assembly, the MGS5 EV CKD price, which is sold at RM 116,900, is an affordable price, which now also has a special launch promotion worth up to RM 9,000.

Moreover, it also brings specification updates, with power up to 151 kW and 350 Nm of torque, as well as 150 kW charging allowing for fast charging from 10-80% in 26 minutes. In fact, another update resulting from local assembly is the front seats with a ventilated seat system, replacing the seats with heated seats.

Moving forward in 2026, MG Malaysia plans to add 3S service centers in Kuantan and Rawang. As a guarantee of user ownership support, until now they also have 11 body and paint facilities nationwide. It is not impossible that we will be able to see more MG offerings in Malaysia.
