The early web browser I started tinkering with the internet over 30 years ago only supported limited images, GIFs and audio. Internet speed constraints meant that a true multimedia experience only came after 2000. Today, Microsoft updated Edge so that it is now not just a web browser but is also capable of generating and summarizing the displayed media.
Copilot on Edge on mobile devices receives a feature that was previously only accessible through the desktop. It can summarize the contents of several open tabs. With this, the summary can be read without the user switching tabs to compare. The answers provided by the Copilot chatbot are also more relevant because they take into account the history of past conversations.
Journeys is now present on Edge mobile devices to organize browsing history by topic with summaries and next-step suggestions. Meanwhile, Vision & Voice allows screen sharing and asking questions like the Gemini Voice feature.
Study & Learn mode breaks down topics on open tabs into learning sessions and interactive quizzes, accessible using Copilot Quizzes. Finally, Edge can automatically play audio podcasts based on the tabs you have open for those who might prefer listening to reading. All of these features are accessible, but the podcasts are only available in English at this time.
