In 2021, while the Covid-19 pandemic was still scaring the world and many were more comfortable meeting online, Microsoft Teams announced the Together Mode feature. More people could join a teleconference session with a more cheerful background instead of the usual grid layout in other applications.
The pandemic is far in the rearview mirror and today Microsoft announced that Together Mode will be discontinued. The action was taken because they believe other interface options such as Gallery are sufficient. It also works more smoothly on less powerful devices. The option for Together Mode has been removed when a teleconference session is joined by users.
