Two mid-range chips were launched by Qualcomm today, namely Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, with an emphasis on more stable gaming performance, 5G support and XPAN features that were previously only offered on flagship chips.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 (SM6850) chip is a 4nm technology chip with 8 CPU cores consisting of 4 high-power 2.6 GHz main cores and 4 high-efficiency 2.0 GHz cores paired with an Adreno chip with a performance increase of up to 21%. Through Smooth Motion UI technology, Qualcomm says it reduces device lag by up to 18% and opens applications 20% faster.
Up to 64MP cameras are supported with the ability to capture 200MP photos, record 4K 30FPS videos and zoom up to 100X. The AI Night Vision feature also explains photos taken at night.
5G Release 17 network with download speeds of up to 2.8 Gbps, Wi-Fi 7 and BT 6.0 are also supported. XPAN technology for stable audio even when moving between rooms is also provided. Finally, it can also be matched with LPDDR4x memory up to 2100 MHz or LPDDR5 up to 3200 MHz up to 16 GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chip (SM6850) is a 4nm technology chip with 8 CPU cores consisting of 2 high-power 2.4 GHz main cores and 6 high-efficiency 2.0 GHz cores paired with an Adreno chip with a performance increase of up to 77%. Through Smooth Motion UI technology, Qualcomm says it reduces the device's sluggishness by up to 25% and opens applications 43% faster.
Up to 32MP cameras are supported with it being able to capture 108MP photos and record 1080p 30FPS videos. 5G Release 15, Wi-Fi 6 and BT 5.1 networks are also supported. XPAN technology for stable audio even when moving between rooms is also provided. Finally, it can also be matched with LPDDR4x memory up to 2100 MHz and UFS 3.1 storage.
