AirPods With Cameras Being Tested But Not For Recording Photos or Videos

The rumors of Apple developing AirPods with cameras have been heard since the end of last year. Various speculations about how this camera will be used began to appear, including claims that it can capture photos and video recordings like the Ray-Ban Meta.

In a recent Bloomberg report, Mark Gurman said that Apple has begun testing AirPods with cameras. The camera on these earphones cannot record photos or videos. Instead, it will only see when told by the user. For example, it can recognize what is being held or seen and count the calories of food in front of its eyes.

There is a feature that it looks around so that it can provide warnings to the user. In the same report, the camera or placed on both the left and right AirPods allows it to see around the user. Because of the presence of the camera, the AirPods stem is longer than the current AirPods Pro pad.

AirPods with cameras are currently in the Design Validation Testing (DVT) test phase before going to the Production Validation Testing (PVT) test for initial production to begin. According to initial reports, the AirPods were supposed to be launched in H1 2026 but were delayed because Siri with AI was also delayed for more than a year, forcing Apple to pay compensation.
