So far, message reactions on WhatsApp can only be used with emojis, which are simple symbols such as smiles, anger or likes. However, behind this limitation, there is a need to provide more personal reactions, for example through the use of stickers. Now, WhatsApp is testing the feature as part of an upcoming update.
The use of stickers can be seen as a more interesting medium of emotional expression than regular emojis. However, it is not certain how these stickers will work. Whether they come in static or animated form, what is certain is that they will make the experience of responding to messages more enjoyable. WhatsApp is developing this feature in a way that users can long-press on a message and select a sticker from a collection, where the process is the same as selecting an emoji.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also planning for a message to receive sticker and emoji reactions simultaneously. However, it is still in the development phase, which means that there is a potential for change before the official launch.
