The cloud services industry is one of the key infrastructures in the modernization drive with the growth of data centers playing a key role in supporting this progress. Alibaba Cloud, which has been established in Malaysia since 2016, today announced its third Availability Zone in the country, located in Johor Bahru.
This third Availability Zone consists of two new data centers, bringing the total number of Alibaba Cloud cloud data centers that have been established in Malaysia to five. In fact, Alibaba Cloud's data center in Malaysia is currently the largest in Southeast Asia. To date, there are 104 Availability Zones across 32 regions to ensure Alibaba Cloud's cloud services are always available to customers.
More than cloud services, this new data center will also support AI infrastructure that is increasingly in demand by customers. This includes support for AI agent services that will be offered to Malaysian users in the second half of this year. Among the AI agent products that Alibaba Cloud will introduce are AgentRun to develop smart agents, STAROps which will act as a smart operations platform, Agent Security Center to ensure AI agents are protected from any cyber threats and many more. Alibaba Cloud's cloud services are currently used by more than 300 companies in Malaysia including some that are close to daily life such as the Touch 'n Go eWallet digital wallet, Ryt digital bank, Malay language AI model through YTL AI Labs, Senheng, as well as PRO-NET which is part of Proton and focuses on electric cars and new energy and many more. Most recently, AI-powered creative platforms Morphyx.io and TabSpace.ai also leverage Alibaba Cloud's AI infrastructure through the Wan2.7 generation model and HappyHorse through Model Studio.
With this major announcement, Alibaba Cloud somewhat proves their commitment in developing local technology infrastructure starting from cloud services and now expanding towards artificial intelligence. This is also proven through the organization of the KaryaWAN AI Challenge which uncovers smart talents utilizing AI, through videos generated by Wan2.7.
