AMD announced today that support for AMD FSR 4.1 technology is now available for download for the AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. This was confirmed by Jack Huynh, Senior VP and General Manager of Compute & Graphics at AMD.
He issued a statement on the X social media platform saying that the FSR 4.1 graphics resolution upscaling technology is now available for the RDNA 3 series graphics cards, along with Valve’s announcement that the Steam Machine is now available for pre-order.
AMD FSR 4.1 technology is an AMD-developed in-game resolution scaling technology that uses artificial intelligence capabilities that can also be used to process sharper graphics and increase frame rates without damaging graphic processing details. This technology was previously only offered on the AMD Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards (RDNA 4), but AMD later confirmed that this feature will be introduced on previous graphics cards.
AMD FSR 4.1 was supposed to be introduced for the AMD Radeon RX 7000 series of graphics cards in early July, but with the FSR 4.1 INT8 file update shown by Valve for the Proton Experimental software that allows Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards to use FSR 4.1 technology on the Linux operating system, AMD has officially confirmed the support.
In fact, through this update it can also be shown that the AMD RDNA 3.5 series of graphics chips also now come with support for the graphics processing technology. For the AMD RDNA 2 series of graphics cards, these cards seem to still have to wait until next year to receive FSR 4.1 support.
This update can be downloaded via the AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition software.
