There are over 2 million apps available for download through the Apple App Store. The app store is responsible for starting the “app economy” era nearly 18 years ago. But if you develop an app on the App Store, Apple has updated its app review guidelines with a clause stating that apps that fail to comply will be removed.
Apps will be removed if they are not updated, improved or do not attract customers. Previously, only apps that are imitations or in saturated categories will be removed. In addition, apps that do not add value such as fart sound apps, flashlights, fortune telling, sound effects, background images and stopwatches will also be removed unless they provide a unique and high-quality experience.
The update to the app guidelines was released on the same day as WWDC. With artificial intelligence (AI), many new apps are published in a way that makes the wait time for apps to be approved longer. Apple still requires humans to review each app before it can be offered on the App Store.
