DJI Osmo Pocket 4P Launched With Dual-Camera System

DJI finally launched the Osmo Pocket 4P in China yesterday after months of initial announcements. This camera brings major changes compared to the previous Pocket series with improvements that allow for higher quality recording results. It is also a challenger to the recently announced Insta360 Luna.

The Osmo Pocket 4P comes with the first dual-camera system in the Pocket series. The main camera uses a 1-inch sensor with a 20mm F/2.0 lens, while the 60mm-focus telephoto camera with an F/1.8 aperture for clear recordings at long distances.

The main camera also offers up to 17 stops of dynamic range, which is higher than the 14 stops on the Pocket 4, thus providing greater detail in light and shadow. Meanwhile, the telephoto camera supports 14 stops of dynamic range to produce images that remain clear even when recorded from a distance.

The telephoto camera also supports optical zoom up to 3x, zoom up to 6x, and digital zoom up to 12x. In addition, it can record 4K video at 240fps for slow motion and 10-bit recording with D-Log2 color profile for easy editing. This camera is also capable of producing still images up to 37MP.

DJI completes the recording experience with six film-like color profiles and smoother facial skin effects to make the results immediately shareable without much additional editing. The three-axis mechanical gimbal also remains the main advantage of the Pocket series while ActiveTrack 8.0 allows the camera to track subjects automatically. Also present is a 2″ OLED screen with brightness up to 1000 nits along with a 1545 mAh battery.

In China, the Osmo Pocket 4P is sold at RMB 3,799 (~RM2,278) while the Vlog Set is offered at RMB 4,299 (~RM2,578). A check on the official DJI Malaysia website found that the local market price has not yet been listed as of this writing. Alternatively, the Osmo Pocket 4 is already available in Malaysia with prices starting at RM1,999 depending on the package offered.
