A lot of interesting information can be accessed through Google Earth such as topographic maps and seeing changes in the earth's surface using decades of accumulated data. Now, Google Earth has added a Flight Simulator feature that allows you to fly in a giant map the size of the Earth.
This flight simulator mode has just been launched in the experimental stage. Select a starting destination and then control the plane virtually using the keyboard arrows. The feature is only accessible using the web version of Google Earth at this time. It can be accessed via the link below.
On the Google Earth website go to the Tools menu and select Flight Simulator from the menu provided. It comes with a clearly visible airplane icon. For the best experience, look for an area of the map with 3D buildings such as major cities of the world.
