Google Home Speaker Launched With Gemini Integration



After six years of not updating its Google Nest smart speaker products, Google today unexpectedly launched the Google Home Speaker. The use of a new name for this round speaker is because it is the first to support Google Gemini integration.


Like Gemini on phones, tablets, watches and computers, Gemini on Google Home Speaker can answer various questions continuously. Through the integration of Google Home, Thread and Matter, it can control various IoT-connected devices owned.


It is equipped with only one 58 mm audio driver that throws audio 360 degrees, 3 far-field microphones to listen to user commands. The microphone can be muted via a physical button on the bottom. When interacting with the user, the light ring on the base will light up.


A pair of Google Home Speakers can be paired to produce studio audio. It is also compatible with the previously launched Google Nest speakers. It is also compatible with Android and iOS devices.


The speaker also uses a quad-core CPU Cortex-A55 2.0 GHz processor with NPU, 1GB LPDDF4 memory and 4GB eMMC storage. The Google Home Speaker is 3.4″ tall and 4.2″ in diameter. Power is supplied via a USB-C cable. It retails for $99.99 (~RM 407) in Jade, Porcelain, Hazel, and Porcelain colors.
